Spent Friday at Borroloola looking around. Apparently the Barramundi aren’t biting at the moment. Water is not warm enough yet. Had a look at the weir above town where they catch some big fish. All I saw was cat-fish. Then went for a drive to Bing Bong where the loading facility for Macarthur River mine is. Ore is transported by road on Quad trailers to Bing Bong & is then put on a barge which goes out to ship which is moored out to sea.
Then went & had a look at King Ash Bay which is leased by the Fishing Club. Lots of campers, boats & you can even hire a houseboat on the river. We think it was set up as an enclave outside of the Aboriginal lands so you can get a drink. Dirt road is so bad on way in that the road goes outside of the road signs!
Left Borroloola on Saturday & drove 300km to spend the night at Daly Waters Pub. Lots of tourists having a drink. Claim to fame is you need to leave a bra hanging above the bar. Apparently they didn’t need a 34AAA so Ulrika missed out on leaving one.
This is how Billy travels in the back seat. The height of luxury.
We are at Bitter Springs (80km south of Katherine) for 4 nights. Went for a quick dip in the springs which are 300m down the road. Water is crystal clear & warm. Plan is to spend lots of time here.
Hi Pete
Looks like you’re having a great trip. Club stableford challenge at Arundel on 29 Aug you can fly back for. All going well here. Have fun and keep the posts coming.
