Beautiful day in Newcastle for the Queens Birthday holiday. Ulrika visited her Mum at Redhead & all things considered she was in pretty good spirits.

We then visited my Mum at Wallsend, slightly different story. Due to the meds she is a bit spaced out & difficult to hold a conversation with. Old age is a bitch.

Went for a drive & ended up at Caves Beach Pub for lunch. Been done up recently & looks pretty good

Ulrika hasn’t been to Catherine Hill Bay so we continued our drive down the coast. Dad’s Mum was born in a mining camp at Catho in 1913 & this is where Dad rolled his boat whilst fishing in 2006. He was just off the back of the breakers & was lucky to survive, he sold his boat & never went fishing again.
The jetty is in disrepair. I remember seeing the 60 milers being loaded with coal that went to the Power Station in Sydney Harbour. What once was a thriving coal town a 100 years ago turned into a sleepy backwater & is about to be revived again with a large housing development.
We then went to Munmorah State Park & wandered around. It was such a great day we even went for a walk on the beach.

Great view from Caravan to finish the day
Tuesday we went & saw Ulrika’s mother again, visited our Financial advisor & then decided we needed to have lunch in the Hunter Valley. Ended up at Paterson House & eating at their Cuvee Restaurant. Food was really good (the sparkling Muscato wasn’t too bad either).
Last couple of days we have just been hanging out & visiting our Mums again. Caught up with James & Sylvia at the Gunyah Pub for dinner. Always good to have a chat with good friends.
Spent a bit of time working on caravan. At least everyone will know who to blame for the bad driving!

Went into Newcastle today & as always the Foreshore is spectacular. Having a beer & watching the ships come in on a good day is great. Lots of work going on up around Nobbys preparing for next years Supercar race. Will be interesting to see how it goes.
Went for a walk along the new Memorial Walkway at Bar Beach. Stunning views of the coastline & city.
We head off to Port Macquarie tomorrow, but I can’t help myself with another sunset photo
