Day 27-30 8/6 – 11/6 Tamworth

Thursday we travelled to Tamworth via Fossikers Way. Was pleasent scenery. Stopped at Bingara for morning tea & had one of the best Apple turnovers I have eaten. Nice town that still has its old picture theatre & a milk bar named after yours truely.

Spent the afternoon doing a few odd jobs around the van.

A bit chilly & misty in morning so Ulrika has got into the habit of using the Air Con to heat up the caravan before getting out of bed. Takes glamping to a new extreme!

Havn’t been to Tamworth for over 30 years so the walk through town was a bit of a surprise. It has grown into a thriving metropolis with lots of people around spending money. Went up to Oxley lookout to get an overview. Great view of valley.

Decided to drive back to Manilla to have a counter lunch & look what we found. A whole lot of old stuff. The steam tractor was going from Tamworth to Manilla on the road. It was only going 10kph. It had two trucks following it, one full of wood & the other had a water tank.

Also found some tree carving on side of road just before Tamworth

Played golf with Ken & Deb at Longyard Golf Club on Saturday. Went in comp. Ulrika had 29 points & I had 34 points. Nice course, Greg Norman design. Great bent greens. Had dinner with them & their friends at the club.

Ulrika may have indulged a little too much as the trip to Newcastle this morning was not pleasent for her.

Staying at Belmont Pines Caravan Park. Right on shore of Lake Macqaurie. Hows this for a view

Had BBQ luch with Brother & Sister & some of their clan. Look like the Griswalds?
